The Benthic Strike Team is a group within Alcyon Corporation which specializes in dealing with exceptionally powerful demons.

Overview

The Benthic Strike Team is a special organization deployed in emergency situations involving powerful demons. Although it is sometimes considered a sister branch to the offense division, since both deal with the slaying of demons, it is separate from the division system entirely. Its members have exceptionally high mist reserves and deadly unique abilities, far above the combat level of any other employee. Alcyon Corporation is somewhat secretive about the operations of the Benthic Strike Team, and does not use its members in promotional material; as such, the average employee is not likely to know much about it other than these facts.

Alcyon Corporation presents "Benthic" as a prestigious rank and title, claiming that only the best of the best are admitted into the team. In practice, the company often uses it as a "quarantine" for employees who are useful but difficult to manage. Most of its members have troublesome abilities and/or personality quirks that make them hard to work with. Despite this, their sheer firepower makes them a valuable and effective unit in certain contexts.

The team currently has 13 members. Despite being called a team, the majority of its members do not show up to any given mission, with 3-5 being considered an average turn-out.

Mission

The team's primary duty is to slay benthic-rank demons. They are also sometimes called in for other emergency situations that require large amounts of firepower, e.g. changeling invasions or internal affairs.

The R&D division extracts mist from the Benthic Strike Team members to use in experiments. This is done by attaching special tube-like devices to their horn implants. Each member must provide a daily quota of mist.

Benthic Strike Team members wear a dark grey hooded jacket with a white strap attached to the hood. The hood serves to obscure their faces, and keep them anonymous until it is time to be deployed. They also wear a white armband with the benthic rank symbol.

Its members can also be identified by their "horns": short cylindrical metal implants attached to the skull. These are power limiters which suppress the overwhelming strength of their auras. During missions, they are remotely deactivated by the command division. When deactivated, the mist flowing out of them takes the shape of energy horns in the colors of the users' auras.
