Nanami Murakami (村上 七海, Murakami Nanami) is a medical student residing in Semikawa. She is a childhood friend of Hiro Nimura.

Appearance
Nanami is a young woman of average height. She has dark eyes and chest-length brown hair, which is usually pulled into a loose braid over her right shoulder.
Her usual outfit consists of an asymmetrical yellow turtleneck sweater with one sleeve, a navy blue button skirt, tights, and boots. She wears a bracelet on her left wrist and a matching left earring.
Personality
Nanami is bright, cheerful, and extroverted. While generally friendly, she can be outspoken and extremely stubborn at times (though she claims she is much more easygoing now than when she was younger). Her classmates advise Hiro that it's usually better to go along with what she wants rather than draw out an argument he will inevitably lose. Part of this stems from a strong sense of justice, and an unwillingness to tolerate unfair situations - the same reason she decided to study medicine.
She enjoys the conveniences of modern technology and prefers the city to the country, to the point that her classmates are sick of her complaints about the rural town she lived in. Several of her accessories double as technological devices: her bracelet is a mobile phone with a hologram UI, and her earring can project a HUD.
She seems to be drawn to people who are similar to herself. She was often frustrated with Hiro when they were children despite their friendship, and states that she likes his present, bolder personality better. Although she is usually straightforward when it comes to matter of love, this is because she usually dates strangers and acquaintances. Now that she has feelings for an important friend, she is finding it difficult to confess directly for fear that it will ruin their relationship.
History
Nanami was born in Semikawa. Her and Hiro's families have lived on the same floor of the same apartment building since before they were born, so she has known him ever since she could remember. As a child, she was often exasperated by Hiro's timidness, and considered it her responsibility to protect him since she was older, even though the age difference was only a few weeks. She often got into arguments with other children who tried to tease or bully him.
When Nanami was seven, the first changeling invasion hit Semikawa. She fled to a shelter with her parents; they all managed to survive, but the apartment building where they lived was heavily damaged. Her parents decided that Semikawa was too dangerous, and moved to the countryside. In the following months, Nanami tried many times to confirm Hiro's fate, calling Alcyon Corporation and the Semikawa city government to demand information, but received no answers.
Once she graduated high school, she moved back to Semikawa in order to study medicine there against her parents' protests. She chose this university partly due to a small hope that she might run into Hiro there.
