Mikoto Kato (加藤 実琴, Katō Mikoto) is an exorcist in Alcyon Corporation's defense division. They are assigned to work with Ichika Sasaki during the Goodwill Festival arc.

They are also moderately popular on Holotube, where they play the character of MIZUCHI, a royal dragon who descended from the heavens to play video games. Though mostly a gaming channel, they will sometimes stream live exorcisms from their other job.

Appearance

Kato has pale skin, dark eyes, and maroon hair in a short bobbed style. They have pale skin and a thin build. Their usual outfit consists of a white track jacket, a black pleated panel skirt with some bright teal pleats on the left side, and brown boots. They also wear black fingerless gloves.

When in-character as MIZUCHI, they turn on a collection of hologram accessories that dramatically change their appearance. These include a pair of curving horns, yellow hair extensions, and a bright pink dragon tail which can move in pre-programmed patterns triggered by their haptic gloves. They also open their jacket, revealing a black crop top and teal pendant underneath.

Personality

As MIZUCHI, Kato presents themselves as a cheerful and energetic (but somewhat airheaded) person. They're friendly and effusive with compliments, though often on strange topics like shoes or eyelashes. They exaggerate their quirky traits, like their love for spicy food, and often go off on strange tangents in the middle of conversations. Topping it off, they also play MIZUCHI as comically self-centered; they refer to their fans as "lackeys" and imperiously wave aside any objections to their strange behavior.

Out of character, Kato's natural personality is revealed to be much more subdued. They act clueless on the job because it appeals to the audience, but they are actually a perceptive and quick-thinking person who can not only come up with ingenious tactics, but execute them without giving the trick away to the viewers. Since they spend so much of their time appeasing other people, they have very little patience for it when they're not on camera. As a result, they can be brutally honest, and won't hold back on their criticisms when discussing the performance of fellow divers. However, they still have a bit of a mischievous streak; when faced with people they dislike, like Ichika, they will often try to provoke funny reactions from them with verbal jabs.

Kato sees themselves as an ordinary, untalented person, who has to work harder than the geniuses around them to achieve the same results. When out of character, they are open about using underhanded tactics to win battles or grow their audience, claiming that it's perfectly reasonable to prioritize their own success over lofty morals. When they encounter people who reject this way of thinking, they easily become resentful, and label them as "geniuses" who are too idealistic to accept the way the world works. However, they also envy these people to some degree, for their ability to get ahead without cheating.

Powers & Abilities

High Mist Capacity: Kato is a competent Midnight-rank diver, who can effectively subdue multiple changelings at once, even when intentionally handicapping themselves to make the fight more interesting. Their aura is teal.

Mare

Cloudburst is an elemental-type mare which allows Kato to breathe out and control a cloud-like substance. By concentrating, they can sense things near their clouds, so they can scout by sending them through small gaps into buildings or other unknown spaces.

On their command, their clouds can cause a literal cloudburst, damaging nearby enemies by erupting into lightning and rain. This destroys the cloud, so they must constantly produce more to keep up an assault. As Ichika notes, their mare would be ideal for safely finding and subduing changelings from a distance, but they refuse to do so on the grounds that it wouldn't be entertaining enough for their audience.
